Questions restaurants ask.
What does the guest tap?
A Saffron payment point at the table — a small NFC tag or stand. The guest holds a compatible phone near it and the check opens in the phone’s browser.
Do guests need an app or account?
No. Everything runs in the phone’s browser. There is nothing to download and no sign-up.
Can guests split the check and add a tip?
Yes. A guest can pay their own portion, share one link with the rest of the table, and each person can add a tip before paying.
What happens if a guest wants to pay normally?
Nothing changes. Card, cash, and terminal payments stay available, and staff can close the check the way they do today.
How does the restaurant know the check was paid?
Paid checks are reflected in the restaurant dashboard and in the POS, so staff can see the table is settled without walking over.
Which POS systems are supported?
Square is supported first. Toast support is coming next, and we will confirm additional systems as they are added.
How are payments protected?
Payments are processed by established payment providers over encrypted connections. Card details are handled by the processor and are never stored by the restaurant or by Saffron.
